Am I a Young Adult?

I received my monthly email update from Barnes and Noble on new releases, exciting titles they have available, and all that jazz. Rather than delete the email as usual, I decided to embrace a writer's mindset and look into what is going on in my new industry of choice. I glanced at the pretty pictures of book covers, read a few words and gravitated towards the Young Adult section of the email. It got me to thinking...what constitutes a young adult?

According to Wikipedia, a young adult, in terms of the literature genre, is generally aged between 12 and 21. I know I've left that age bracket behind a long time ago. I stopped counting those birthday candles to avoid depression. However, I started to think of the books I really like to read when not on a full hard-core 50 Shades style of writing. I do read books that don't revolve around sex, no matter what my fiance says!

What books did I really enjoy for the story? Twilight was the first to come to mind. The books are truly better than the movie. Sorry Kristen Stewart fans. I even enjoyed the details from Harry Potter...the one book I read out loud to my now teenage son when he was little. We all know that supernatural is the thing of late. So why not stick to what I like, take a break from the raunchy sex-scenes that I am not quite ready to tackle, and revisit one of my story-lines I have been muddling around in my head for a few years?

Genius!

Now...to put myself back in the teenage frame of mind, I should probably call my mother to have a huge hissy fit over something. Then I'll crank up the New Kids on the Block and stare at my picture of Joey. Mmmmm. Dreamy.
